Comments

Comments let people discuss the plan where the detail is: on an activity, a product, a role or a milestone, rather than in a separate email thread. They suit reviews in particular. Reviewers raise points against the items they're about, and the team resolves each one as it's dealt with.

Who can comment

The project's Comment mode, in Settings under Editing and Review, decides who can comment:

Mode Who can comment Who sees comments
Open Anyone who can view the project Everyone who can view the project
Review Authors, Reviewers and organisation admins Authors and organisation admins see every comment. Reviewers see their own comments and the replies to them.
Off Nobody Only Authors and organisation admins, on the Comments page

Guests using a public link can't comment or see comments, whatever the mode. Comments still work when a project is locked, so you can review a locked plan without anyone changing it.

Adding a comment

You can comment on activities, products, milestones, roles and other parties, work packages, processes, governance bodies and tools. Look for the comment icon beside an item, such as on the Organisation chart, the Products tab, the WBS diagram, Responsibilities, Effort, Tools or the Staff Guide. When an item has open comments, the icon shows how many.

Select the icon to see the item's comments. Type in Add a comment… and post it, or choose View full thread to read everything in one place.

Resolving comments

When a comment has been dealt with, choose Resolve. It stays in the thread, marked Resolved, and no longer counts as open. Choose Reopen if it needs more work. Authors, Reviewers and organisation admins can resolve and reopen comments.

The Comments page

Comments, in the project menu under the project name, lists every comment in the project you're allowed to see. Filter by status (Open or Resolved) or by the type of item, and select a comment to go to its item. A comment whose item has since been deleted is marked Target deleted.
